Position Summary: The Social Media Intern will assist in supporting the day-to-day functions of our organization. This is a hands-on opportunity for someone interested in nonprofit marketing and communications.
Responsibilities: - Support daily administrative tasks and organizational operations
- Film, edit, and publish one short-form video/reel a week
- Create engaging short-form video content across Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and Linkedin
- Help promote our shelter’s programming, community events, and other initiatives through social platforms
- Support efforts to maintain a consistent brand voice and presentation across social platforms
- Stay current on social media trends, platform features, and evolving digital content practices
- Monitor social media activity, audience engagement, and emerging trends to help identify new content opportunities
- Assist with additional graphic design assignment as needed
- Help capture photos of residents and programming as needed
- Write social media copy as needed
Qualifications: - Some college or pursing a degree in communications, journalism, digital media, marketing, broadcasting, public relations, or a related field
- Available during standard weekly business hours (8am-5:00pm)
- Strong interest in social media, digital content, broadcasting, journalism, or communications
- Proficient in Canva and short-form video editing tools
- Familiarity with social media platforms, particularly TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook
- Ability to write clear, concise, and engaging social media copy
- Creative mindset and an interest in visual and digital storytelling
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Social Media metrics evaluation
- Effective written and verbal communication
- Ability to work independently and take initiative
- Comfortable using Microsoft Office.
- Passion for social impact and nonprofit work
Preferred Skills: - Basic data analysis skills
- Prior volunteer or internship experience in a nonprofit setting
